I have sold a lot of vehicle and I have also bought a lot of vehicles. Today I will give you some tips on how I feel selling a used vehicle should go. First thing is first, you must decide to sell your used car/truck/SUV. After you make the decision to sell it you have to do some research and find out not only what it is worth but also what other vehicles like yours are going for in the area. You could use NADA or KBB to get the value and Auto Trader or Craigslist to see what they are selling for. After you get a price set for what you are willing to sell it for add a few hundred for room to bargain. When you are finally ready to sell it you should clean out everything thing that is yours in the vehicle, vacuum and wash it to be ready for a sale. There are many ways to sell vehicles now but a very popular way is craigslist, I have used it and it has been very successful in selling vehicles for me but you have to deal with quite a bit of garbage. Put the vehicle up for sale whatever means you would like to and then wait for some hits on it. When you have someone come out to look at it let them look it over, look at the motor the inside and underneath. Then offer to start it up to let them hear it run. If they would like to, after that, offer them a test drive or to take it to a mechanic to look at it. Be as honest with them as possible and tell them as much as you know about the vehicle, if honesty ruins a sale or two then so be it. I know it has for me but I have also made sales by being so honest to people. When it is all over and they are still interested then you have the price to work on, if they try to lowball you just tell them that you can't go that low and make a counter offer, if you have decided on a price then don't take less unless you think it is ok, don't undersell to make a sale. If you make the sale then you need to make up a bill of sale (should have ready) you can find them online but you need your name, the name of the purchaser, VIN, make, model, year, selling price, both signatures and it needs to say "selling as-is No warranty" this protects you if they try to say that you scammed them or anything else and it protects them if you try to go out and file for a lost title. Finally, make sure you have your plate off of the vehicle and all your paperwork out of the vehicle.
